The Buskett Gardens are located in a fertile valley located to the south of Rabat and just east of Dingli. The gardens are at their best in the Spring but they offer shade from the harsh mid-summer sun and offer a quite place for a walk in the Winter months. Verdala Palace is located on the edge of the Gardens. The gardens get their name from the Italian word Dingli Cliffs are an impressive sight, especially if view them from sea level on an island cruise. They are the Island's natural fortress, one bastion the Knights did not have to build to protect themselves. From the cliff tops, one of the most striking views and sheerest drops is just west of Dingli village. Another atmospheric view is over to the uninhabited isle of Fifla. Dingli Cliffs seem to exude a mysterious charm especially late evening on calm summer days when the sunsets here can be dramatic. Following recent restoration works, this historic building is now used as a Government Guest Palace. Wardija is one of the few places abroad where one feels instantly at home and one is at peace with the world. This Maltese Village is one of these places. Siggiewi is situated on a plateau in the South Western part of Malta, a few kilometres away from Imdina, the ancient capital city of Malta, and 10 kilometres away from Valletta the capital city. It is the hometown of almost 7500 inhabitants who, up to several decades ago, worked mostly in the fields which surround the village. The meaning of the word In the Maltese language 'ghar' means cave. Ghar Lapsi is a fishing hamlet on the southern coast. Access to the water is easy. Within a few strokes from the entry point is a shallow system of underwater caves lit up with beams of sunlight from the numerous exits. The Ghar Lapsi area is mostly in the 15 to 20 metres depth range and offers a large area of parallel reefs and depressions with most of the typical marine fauna of the Mediterranean. Mnajdra sits tucked in a hollow in the cliffs on Malta’s southern coast. The site is probably the most atmospheric of all of Malta’s temples, as it lies in an isolated position on a rugged stretch of coast overlooking the isle of Filfla. Mnajdra is a complex site consisting of three temples overlooking an oval forecourt. The first and oldest temple dates back to 3600-3200 BC, while the most impressive of the temples is the third, constructed between 3150-2500 BC. This temple is perhaps the finest surviving on the Islands. The masonry here shows intricate knowledge of building techniques and excellent workmanship. Blue Grotto is an unspoilt popular beauty spot and a geological curiosity consisting of a natural arch and a deep-sea cave formed in the rock face of the surrounding cliffs.

The stretch of the Victoria Lines (limits of Gharghur) gives clear views of Bahar ic-Caghaq, the Maghtab plain up to St. Paul's Bay and the north-eastern coast of Malta and Gozo as well as of the pre-second World War acoustic mirror (called il-Widna) immediately below. This is today the site of Maltacom's principal satellite communications installation as is evident from the large antennas. The Victoria Lines (limits of Gharghur) The other side of Gebel San Pietru escarpment and also the site of the proposed Gharghur right battery, looking down into Wied il-Faham one notices how the stone parapet traverses the valley and rises again on the opposing side. Mosta is the town renowned for the awesome dome of the church, the fourth largest in the world and famous due to the incident that took place during WWII – a bomb, which pierced the dome in 1942 landed on the church floor and slid across the floor without exploding! Bahar ic-caghaq extends from St.Andrews to Qawra, the coastal road that joins these two towns, posses unobstructed view of the Mediterranean sea and the rocky coast, with stretching isles. Verdala Fort and Barracks (1853). This fortress used to house the British Soldiers during their occupation of the Maltese Islands and shortly after it was converted into a number of governmental residential units. Senglea suffered heavy damage during World War II. More than 75 percent of its buildings were destroyed. The parish church dedicated to the Nativity of the Madonna was rebuilt and retains its artistic heritage. The city is noted for its superb harbour views across to Valletta from Safe Haven Gardens at Senglea Point. The stone vedette, known as il-Gardjola, on the bastion-point served as a look-out post to guard the harbour The first creek to port side on entering Grand Harbour is Rinella Creek which is dominated by the Fort Rinella and the giant 100-ton gun. It served it’s purpose to accommodate the British fleet and crew to disembark. Fort Rinella is one of a series of four coastal batteries built by the British in Malta and in Gibraltar between the years 1878 and 1886. The purpose for building these forts was for each of them to house an Armstrong 100-ton gun. The building of these forts was necessitated by Britain’s fear of loosing her naval superiority in the Mediterranean to Italy, who was at the time rebuilding her navy to an unprecedented strength.

Marfa Ridge (Code W05 )

This tower, also known as the Red Tower, was built in 1649 and was manned during both World Wars. It provides excellent all round views of Gozo, Comino and the Ghadira Nature Reserve. This Tower is situated on the crest of Marfa Ridge. A shallow alcove within the Tower housed a chapel dedicated to St Agatha. It is also known as the Red Tower due to the colour it was painted and this colour was retained on restoration. It was completed in 1649 during the rule of Grand Master Jean Paul Lascaris Castellar. Paradise Bay on the northern tip of Malta overlooks Cirkewwa where the ferry leaves for Gozo. Paradise Bay has a small, picturesque sandy beach with good facilities and some water sports options such as jet skiing. There is a car park on the cliff top. The beach is reached down numerous steep steps, but is worth the trek. The cliffs above the bay are perfect at sunset when you have spectacular skies and some hazy views over to Comino and Gozo. The countryside of this northern and isolated region of Malta is ideal for hiking. Ahrax point is the north-eastern point of Malta. There are a number of caves at the surface, inside of which there are several tunnels. The entry is a narrow inlet with depths from three to 10 metres. A 10 minute snorkel gets to the point where two options present themselves - to the left a reef rich in marine life and an impressive drop-off and to the right, an underwater entrance to a large cave. Throughout the dive there are plenty of cardinalfish, bright corals and red sponges. Ghadira, located in Mellieha Bay is the biggest stretch of sand on the Maltese islands. Although Malta and Gozo do not have the big beaches other countries have, its beaches are very picturesque and the water is as beautiful and as clear as any found in the Carribean.

Located in the north west of Malta, close to the village of Mellieha, the Selmun Palace( Hotel) offers a magnificent XVIII century castle on vast gardens planted with Mediterranean species (3 hectares). This green area overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, Saint Paul’s Bay and the islands of Gozo and Comino. Mistra Bay is a pebble beach between Xemxija Bay and Selmun. Mistra, like Xemxija, has a long history of sequent occupation that goes back to the Phoenicians and Roman rule. It has a number of caves in the area that were used as burial places. Others were used for refuge, shelter and to monitor the bay . A natural depression on one side of the bay now shelters different plant species. The military battery built by the knights, visible at the edge of the cliff, is now being used for Aquaculture. Fish farming pens are present at the outer part of the bay. These islands are at the western entrance to St Paul's Bay and the only way of reaching the islands is by boat. There are various dive sites at St Paul's Islands, including the location where St Paul was supposed to have been shipwrecked. Although there is nothing to show this, there are other remains such as some plates and ribs form an old destroyer and a small ferry sunk purposely in 1984. Another dive, is an open water reef dive. The seabed is covered in rocks and boulders, and small sea urchins and fireworms can be seen. Another dive is St Paul's valley, found between the two islands. The seabed is of white sand and is covered in boulders and Posidonia, where numerous wrasse can be found. Between the seagrass, broad-snouted pipefish can also be seen. Selmun is located in the North of Malta. It is a beautiful place, mainly countryside and bays.
